About Lewis

Hi, my name is Lewis. That is me and my dog up there. I think that photo summarizes everything about who I am pretty well but I will elaborate a bit more.

On my 22nd birthday I decided I wanted a photo of me with my dog. After setting up all the lighting, grabbing my birthday sombrero (which I had earned the night before) and clearing the room, I called my dog in. She was so excited that she could barely sit still, so I grabbed a dog treat, asked her to sit and gave it to her. She sat still for a moment and I thought to myself “this is the perfect time to take the photo” so I hit the shutter button on the remote. At that exact split second she turned to me and planted a slobbery kiss right on my face, which I was not expecting as you can see by my expression. I had set out to get a nice photo of me with my best friend and ended up immortalizing the very first time (and hopefully last) I was violated by a dog.

You’re probably wondering what a photo like this is doing on my professional website right? Chances are I’ve directed you here as part of an interview, or perhaps you’re just browsing my work, either way this isn’t what you normally see in the average person’s portfolio, and you’re right! I’m not the average person. I put this photo up because it shows who I am, what I am about and what I do all in the one picture. I think the whole point of any interview is to showcase yourself as best as possible and this photo does that perfectly.  If you haven’t clicked off this page and are still interested in learning more about me and what I do, then here’s a little more:

I’m currently living in Sydney, Australia. I am a writer, photographer, blogger, film maker and social media consultant. I mainly write for a number of blogs, a few of which I started myself. The one I am most proud of is Metal Made Beautiful which is how I got started writing and focuses mainly on cars. DS&B has opened up so many doors for me and has garnered a lot of attention from a number of different websites and businesses. I started Do Stuff & Blog as a way to unify all the different things I do without limiting myself to one specific genre. For example, I love writing about cars but sometimes I want to talk about video games or a particular movie that might not appeal to people who are following me just for the cars.

When I realised how varied my interests were I sat down and thought about what I wanted to call the site. I came up with a few hip names and just wasn’t happy. I thought about what I’d be doing – I’d be doing stuff, and blogging about it. As you can see I’m not exactly a master at coming up with names but after a short time, I started to really love the name and what it has come to represent. I couldn’t imagine it being called anything else now and every time I hear someone say it out loud I can’t help but smile.

I’ve taken on numerous projects over the last 2 years which can be viewed here.

I wanted to make this blog my “living resume” as I’d like to call it, a look into everything I have done, everything I plan on doing and everything in between.

If you would like to hire me for freelance work I specialize in writing, photography, graphic design, audio production (podcasts, audio segements, corporate recordings etc.), videography, social media management and marketing consultation. You can read more on the Freelance Services Page.

I hope you find some of the things that I do interesting, I am always happy to receive feedback, suggestions or just have a chat with anyone who is interested in what I do.

    • Thank you! That means a lot to me. Glad you enjoyed the photo – I was going for something a little more lighthearted than the standard ‘black and white holding the camera over my eye’ photographer’s photo haha!
