Merry 2015 everyone! I haven’t posted for a while because things have been pretty crazy for me this last few weeks, but I’m happy to report I will be back to normal as of next week. I wanted to do a little update post so that everyone can know what to expect over the next few months.
Some of you have been following me for years, some of you only a few weeks, but by now I’m sure you can all tell that I pretty much have no idea what I’m doing with my life, which is why I do just about everything! This year is no exception to that, in fact, I’ve probably gone and made it worse by taking on a range of new projects and ideas.
The first thing I want to talk about is Podcasting/voice segments/radio style shows/whatever you want to call them. Late last year I did a few segments on gaming for a friend. I hadn’t really done anything like it before and was actually quite worried about doing it. After doing them though, I pretty much fell in love with the idea of Podcasting and making segments. I have always loved writing as a medium to convey my thoughts on things so never really considered doing voice work. I feel like it will be a great experience and project to work on to add to the list of things I have done/am doing. The plan for now is to do the same kind of thing that I do with these articles, so reviews, feature articles and all that. I also want to do interviews with friends and people that I know. I have had some really profound conversations over the last few months and I have regretted not recording them many times, so hopefully I can capture that level of entertainment. I’m really excited to see what happens with this because it’s something new that I have never tried before.
Strange Collection Magazine/Clothing Co.
Since I made the post about how I was starting a magazine, I have learned a lot. Mainly how hard it is to start a magazine. I thought to myself “I’ve written about 40 articles in a year, how hard could it be to get 15 articles for a magazine?” Oh how wrong I was. It’s very hard. Finding content to write about, that’s worth publishing, it’s really hard. Getting people to come on board and contribute is also really hard when you can’t afford to pay them. The magazine is definitely still going to happen this year but I can’t set an exact date. I work on it almost daily and it’s slowly coming together. The interesting thing about Strange Collection was that when I made the shirt, as sort of a “promo” thing, it got a lot of attention. People stop me in the street asking where I got it. I have about five people wanting them just from my friend group. It was unexpected but I am really happy with how it turned out. I always loved the idea of designing shirts but never thought people would like my weird designs. Apparently they do, so expect more shirt designs in the future and possibly a little e-store popping up soon.
I’ve been toying with the idea of studying photography for a while now. I have always loved it, ever since I picked up my first film camera it has always fascinated me. The thing that put me off was that I don’t know all that many people making money as a photographer, unless they are shooting weddings which is something I never, ever want to do. I am leaning towards doing it in 2015 but have not made a final decision simply because I can’t find the right college for me that would allow me to have flexibility in the time table. With all that said, it’s still looking pretty likely.
Some of you may remember how I was going to try my hand at games journalism and that is still very much on the table. With the added medium of Podcasting, I am definitely going to be focusing on the gaming world by writing articles, reviews, making videos and also creating Podcasts and Segments. I am also going to be doing a few gaming related articles and reviews on Zen Garage which I am really excited about so keep an eye on the site. I have access to just about every one of the new generation of consoles so I should be able to cover a lot.
Skateboarding, Anime, Manga & Cars
My main loves. Of course I will always be generating content around these hobbies until the day I die. The drift project is still in the works (mainly just funds that are holding me back, or lack thereof) and I have some nifty little ideas for skate content. I’ve been really getting into anime and manga lately so expect a bunch of content around that too.
There will obviously be more content featuring on the site but these are just some things that I am planning and working on right now. I don’t want to seem to sappy and lame here but the continued support from all of my followers is something I will never take for granted and I hope I can continue to make entertaining content for you all.
Here’s to an awesome year!
