12 Games That Need To Be Remade & Remastered For Current Gen Consoles! (Part One)

With the huge amount of re-released/re-made games such as Halo: Master Chief Collection, GTA V, Pokemon ORAS, Dark Souls II, Majora’s Mask, Resident Evil and many others, I have been thinking a lot about what games I would like to see get the current gen make over. I have been loving Halo 2 on the Xbox One, minus the slight colossal screw up with multiplayer. It is sleek, beautiful and looks like it was meant to be played on the mighty Xbone since day one. Not to mention the cut scenes look like they are lifted straight from an A-list CGI Hollywood movie, which I love!

Considering how much I love the remastered Halo 2, I have had a long think about what games I would like to see get spruced up and I think some of you may agree with me…hopefully!

This is my list of 12 games that NEED to be remade or remastered for the current generation of consoles. Nostalgia Disclaimer: I have chosen these games based on what raised me into the man-gamer I am today, not for any other reason. These games hold a special place in my heart, so take these opinions as such.

Numero Uno: Half Life (One, Two, Episode One, Episode Two and Lost Coast) Holy sh*t Half Life! I straight up love this game. I even liked the first one even though I was terrified of the zombie head crabs of doom. Then Half Life 2 came along and introduced me to amazing graphics and PHYSICS! Oh man, physics are cool, science is cool, gravity is cool, guns are cool, gravity guns are even cool! Gordon Freeman, making kids want to be scientists since 1998. The setting, story, characters and game play were way ahead of it’s time, so much so that I still play this game today and it honestly doesn’t feel all that dated – making it prime for some current genification! Get on it Valve.

Numero Two-no: Super Mario 64 This is one of the first games I ever played. I still remember being so amazed by how big the castle was. It was probably the first game I ever obsessed over, I would think about it when I was in bed at night, at school, every where I went I jumped around saying “Ya-Hoo!”. I loved that game, it was challenging and very kid friendly. If there is one game I will force my children to play, it is this. Hopefully it will be fully remastered 1080/60fps with the ability to switch back to 64bit graphics so I can show the kids how old school dad is. Still cool though.

Number Three-no: Shadow Of The Colossus This game is beautiful, even by today’s standards. I must have played it at least 20 times just to go back and experience every single one of the Colossus(esessss?) again. There is literally something jaw dropping about this game, an X-factor that few games have achieved since. I played the PS3 version and it was good, but I think the current gen consoles would take this game to new levels of beauty. That ending as well, man, I am still sobbing. need_for_speed_underground_2_003

Numbero Quad-o: Need For Speed Underground 2 Yeah, I’m not ashamed to admit it, I LOVED this game. I loved putting neons on everything, flaming decals on the side of my car and ridiculous amounts of speakers in the boot. I can still hear that Doors X Snoop Dogg Remix of Riders On The Storm in my head! The memories of hearing the hiss of NOS while doing 200kph around a hairpin are still so vivid! Between this game and The Fast & The Furious, I was pretty much destined to end up being a car lover. I would love to see it with shiny visuals, a revamped map and online multiplayer. This has to be easily one of the best car racing games ever made.

Number 5: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind My first Elder Scrolls Game. This game opened my eyes to what an RPG could be and is without a doubt my favourite entry in the series. It was huge! Still is, even by today’s standards when you think about it. I have played every Elder Scrolls game and expansion since and none of them have come close to recreating the complete and utter awe I was in the first time I played this game. I have a feeling that an “Elder Scrolls HD Collection” is in the works, or perhaps I’m just being optimistic! In any case I can’t see anyone complaining about Morrowind getting a facelift.

Number six:
Skate 3 Skate.

The game that took on the Tony Hawk Pro Skater titan and won! This game utilized some very weird controls and changed what people expected from a skate video game. Slick graphics, huge open world to explore, intuitive level creator, awesome replay editor and a roster of the raddest real life skaters combined with a very funny approach to skating, it was always going to be a winner. Unfortunately EA has said they will not be making Skate 4 but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t revamp the best in the series! Skaters everywhere would rejoice! Make it happen EA.

Well there you have it folks, that is part one of my Top 12 Games That Need To Be Remade/Remastered For The Current Gen! Stay tuned for part two! It may be a while because I’m currently working on a review of Assassin’s Creed Unity for Xbox One as well as making a series of videos about fun things you can do in GTA V without killing anyone.
